My little pony, polly pocket, tinkerbell, strawberry shortcake, barbie.... and ALL their cute little accessories.
After finding them all over the house, in the carpet and under my feet, I made my daughter a little pouch to keep them together and somewhat organized.
My friend and I who also makes jewelry, have been checking out the local market scene this summer.
We've been vendors at two markets so far, with at least three more scheduled.
That's me, and this is our display at one of the markets.
This display for my jewelry bags and rolls has been wonderful. It puts them in plain sight and draws a lot of people in.
It is a large shutter that I found at a local thrift store, which I painted. Read about that here.
We set up an area of all of our forget-me-not flower jewelry.
A mix of everything else. We set up a cute display with sand and starfish by our pearl jewelry.
I will get a better picture of that next time.
I surpassed 500 sales in my Etsy shop! Hooray!
500 sales is a major milestone that I've looked forward to reaching. And not an easy accomplishment if you have ever tried selling handmade goods online. Especially jewelry. I have loved running my etsy shop. It has provided an opportunity to make a little extra money to support my favorite hobbies and gives me an excuse to do what I love to do - create things!

Over the Christmas holidays, I was able to participate as a vendor at two boutiques. They were both lots of fun and I want to tell you about part of my displays.
I purchased these great shutters from the McCammon Country Farms vintage shop on Etsy last spring.
They are approximately 16"x20" in size. I figured they would make a great earring display. They were in great condition and full of character in the state I received them. However, to use them as a jewelry display, I needed to create something that would catch a customers eye and draw them in.
I also found some much larger plantation shutters at a local thrift / second hand store. One of them is almost the size of a door (I did not have a chance to do anything with those yet) and one is approximately 5'x2' in size. Here is the before picture:
_At first I considered painting them in a really bold, fun eye catching color, but I didn't want to be limited or dated ("that is so 2010") a few years from now. I decided it was easier to switch up the tablecloth color than to keep painting over these shutters. So I decided to paint them in a creamy off white color and accent them with gold paint. I wanted to create something classy and shabby chic at the same time.
I also added (glued) fancy wood carving / cutouts on each piece of the shutter (purchased from Michaels).
_And here is the end result:
I used faux glaze mixed in with gold paint to accent the details. It added so much character, yet keeps the focus on the items for display.
I've been making these anti-tarnish jewelry storage bags for a few years now. Just a cute little bag, lined with anti-tarnish fabric to help keep your favorite jewelry from tarnishing. Great for traveling or just organizing at home.
_After a few requests, I came up with another style - more of a jewelry roll, lined with the anti-tarnish fabric. Inside, these each have two large zippered pockets, and either a ring roll, more pockets, a place to attach necklaces or to hang earrings.
Click on a picture or visit my Etsy shop to learn more. Each organizer is slightly different - crafting isn't near as much fun when you are duplicating as it is when you are creating something new.
I love doing custom orders! Here are the finished products
for a few requests for custom anti-tarnish
jewelry bags that I have been working on lately.
The customer requested two bags a small and large one. This black one is 5-1/2 x 3-1/2 x 1-1/4 inches, much smaller than what I normally make. The bag has one pocket inside, making two compartments for storing jewelry.
This makes a great size for keeping in a purse, gym bag or for taking on an overnight-er.
The larger blue plaid bag is 9 x 6 x 2 inches, with four large pockets inside. She requested that I make the bag with a bottom that supports the bag enough to stand on it's own. I was happy to meet the challenge, as I thought it would be a great improvement on my design.
A different customer requested a larger version of a bag I already made. Not much of a challenge, but fun nonetheless - I got to make another cute little songbird! The size is 9" x 5.5", with four large pockets inside, plus the main area.
After receiving the bag, the customer left the following feedback for me: "Great customer service and prompt shipping...jewelry organizer better than expected with exceptional craftsmanship."
For a customer who requested a leopard print bag, this is 7.5 x 6 inches. The black bow is satin and goes all the way around the bag. She wanted two smaller pockets (2.5 x 2.5 inches) each. The smaller pockets are great for earrings or rings.
This customer sent me the following message: "I added you to my favorites list. Keep this bag on your page, it will sale, very elegant. Thank you for being so prompt. Exactly what I wanted. :} "
I now include two small jewelry polishing cloths with each anti-tarnish jewelry bag. The polishing cloths allow you to remove any tarnish your jewelry may currently have before storing it in the anti-tarnish jewelry bag.
Way back in September, I blogged about wanting to improve and embellish my Anti-Tarnish Jewelry bags. I posted lots of links to different flower tutorials, made of ribbons and fabric. I tried some of them, pictured below. I came up with a few of my own designs made out of felt and by some stroke of genius, discovered a quick, easy and beautiful flower design of my own. It is made of ribbon and a button (the red flower with the black button is an example of it) and I am working on a tutorial, which I promise to post soon.
Some of these Anti-tarnish bags have sold, but the others are available in my etsy shop.
Ahh, finally finished! After countless hours of sewing and designing, I am so excited to list a new and original creation in my etsy shop - The Bling Storage Book.
I also have small anti-tarnish jewelry pouches / bags for just a couple pieces of jewelry. These are great for storing heirloom jewelry, overnight travel or just your favorite pieces.
